We ran into a brand new 3D printer startup: 3DConstructions. This is a freshly new company, started only last August by a couple of young German mechanical engineers who recently graduated. Like many such startups, the group began by making their own 3D printer to address their particular needs for printing 3D objects in ways that weren’t being addressed by industry.

Omni3D’s new Factory 2.0 industrial 3D printer has some powerful features. The Polish company has been manufacturing an industrial-quality 3D printer for several years now, which we believe they’re using to target Stratasys Fortus customers. The Factory 2.0 machine includes many of the features found in the Fortus equipment, but may have lower operational costs.

American aerostructure manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems has confirmed the receipt of its first 3D printed structural component. The first product of an existing partnership between the company and Norwegian-American Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) developer Norsk Titanium, the part has been installed in the forward fuselage of a Boeing 787.

American multinational IT company International Business Machines Corp, better know as IBM, has filed a patent relating to “3D printing on the surface of an acoustic hologram.” First submitted in June 2017, the document has now been published online for public knowledge.
