While quick and small short term advantages are easily noteable in one of cases when adopting 3D Printing, the long term advantages are way bigger. And they are achieved by being smart while adopting 3D Printing and through trial and error runs.
There is no textbook procedure for adopting 3d printing in the manufacturing process. But with years of experience having worked in the automotive industry, Dr. Atanu Chaudhuri’s published research paper titled “Selecting spare parts for additive manufacturing: A design science approach” sets guidelines on selecting parts for 3D printing, which can be a major help in adopting 3d printing in the long run.
Dr. Chaudhuri has written an article on the approach to selecting parts for 3D Printing in our recently inaugurated magazine – The AM Chronicle Journal and our this episode is based on the same.
